The police report filed by Playboy Playmate Kennedy Summers against NBA star Jeff Withey centers on an alleged fight inside their shared apartment last summer that led her to call 911, the Daily News has learned.
Summers claims Withey cornered her and “lunged” at her during the explosive argument, a source familiar with her report said.
According to the source, Summers claims Withey “was grabbing her and abusing her.”
He allegedly “grabbed her leg to get her away” from a phone during the struggle, the source said. “She called 911 and said he needed to get out of the apartment.”
Withey’s lawyer has dismissed any claims of domestic violence as “patently false.”
Late Thursday, Summers responded to the denial by posting a photo on Twitter showing her with a large bruise on her leg while strolling with her ex outside the Malibu Farm Pier Cafe.
She also posted an alleged text exchange with the Utah Jazz center in which he appeared to admit some type of abuse.
Summers claimed in the exchange that he “beat” her, and Withey allegedly responded it “happened once” and “will never happen again.”
“Love when attorneys call me a liar, even after their client has already admitted guilt #proof #survivor,” she captioned the Twitter post.
“These salacious and patently false allegations appear to be nothing more than a vicious and calculated attempt by an angry former girlfriend to damage Mr. Withey’s good reputation,” Withey’s lawyer Alan Jackson said in his statement.
“It is no coincidence that these fabricated claims conveniently come during the middle of the NBA playoffs, or that TMZ and the police department were notified on the same day,” he said.
“There is no truth to the accusations, and when the facts come to light we are confident that the falsity of the claims, and the true motivations of the person behind them, will be exposed,” he said.
As TMZ first reported Thursday, Summers filed a report with Manhattan Beach Police recently after she learned that Withey would be in her “vicinity” for a playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Police confirmed the report to The News.
“The victim did file a police report with our department. We are currently investigating it, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney Office will determine if charges will be filed or not,” a department spokesman said.
Summers and Withey got engaged last July, but she ended things for good a short time later, confirming their breakup in early October.
The Utah Jazz, meanwhile, released a statement Thursday on the police report.
“We are aware of the media reports involving Jeff Withey. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation,” the team said.
