Richard Simmons returns home from hospital stay


Richard Simmons appeared in public for the first time in three years, but there wasn’t much to see.

The fitness guru returned to his California home on Thursday after a three-day stint in the hospital due to severe indigestion and hid completely underneath a blanket, according to photos and video obtained by TMZ.

The 68-year-old hasn’t been seen by the public in at least three years, leading to speculation about his well-being.

When the exercise expert arrived home on Thursday — he was brought there with a police escort.

His housekeeper reportedly called authorities to help with paparazzi and she also completely wrapped up Simmons in a blanket like a cocoon so nothing but his white New Balance sneakers were visible.

The fitness guru is a regular on Facebook, despite his reclusiveness from the public eye.

At least four LAPD officers assisted Simmons in his walk from his garage to back door, which was only a few feet.

Simmons spent a few days in the hospital after battling stomach pains for several days.

“We agreed it was best for him to seek treatment,” his manager Richard Catalano told People.

On Wednesday, he spoke to his fans for the first time in a Facebook post, noting he was just “under the weather.”

He said, “I hope to see you all soon.”

Last March, the Daily News published an investigative piece into the alleged disappearance of Richard Simmons, which led him to defend himself in an interview on “Today.”

He told host Savannah Guthrie that he’s just fine and “not going anywhere.”

His brother Lenny later told People that he just needed some time out of the spotlight.

“My brother certainly deserves his vacation,” Lenny told Us. “I certainly cannot fault him for wanting to do that.”
